Milwaukee Owls
The Janitor Cup Playoffs is set in modern day America in the year of 2025. It revolves around the professional game of ice hockey and the 47 National Hockey League teams that are participating in the playoffs.Amongst the 47 teams are the Milwaukee Owls, a team with quick forwards and a strong defense founded in 1944. They are based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and call the Evergreen Arena, nicknamed "The Nest," their home which has a seating capacity of 19,500.The Owls' team colors consist of white, black, and yellow⏤white being the primary color and black and yellow being the secondary colors.Their logo embraces the team's name and colors, taking form as a white great horned owl with yellow eyes. Its ear tufts are tipped with yellow while its black-tipped wings are striped with yellow details. From its underbelly to its zygodactyl feet is the color black.Modeled after the Owls' logo is their mascot Hedwig, affectionately named after the famous owl from the Harry Potter series. Hedwig made his debut back in 1999 at the team's first game of the 1999-2000 NHL season. Connor Herbert, younger half brother of the team's assistant coach Bridget Herbert, currently fulfills the role as Milwaukee's lovable owl.

BACKGROUND
Warren McCoy was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the first of two McCoy sons to be raised by the owners of a prosperous cranberry farm. His love for ice hockey began at a young age, one that he shared with his father. It led him to pursue the sport at the beginning of middle school and eventually join a local ice hockey during high school. Though his passion for ice hockey was strong, his talent to play it wasn't so he quit playing once he headed off to college. The University of Wisconsin was where he met Alicia Anderson, the woman he eventually married at 27 and started a family with two years later when they welcomed their son Edmund McCoy.Life had been great. His love for ice hockey inherited from his father had been passed down to his son, much of their time spent together bonding over the sport during morning practices before Ed was sent off to school. He and his wife Alicia were as happy as a married couple could be.But then Warren inherited his parents' cranberry farm, the true beginning of how his picturesque life began to unravel. The long commutes, the stress of operating the cranberry farm, and the eventual emotional distance between him and his wife drove him to develop feelings for his personal assistant. Despite never having acted upon his feelings knowing fully well that it'd be very inappropriate and unprofessional, his wife found out and all hell broke loose afterwards.Divorced and named the worst father of the century by his now estranged son, he sought comfort in ice hockey and eventually became the franchise owner of the Milwaukee Owls when he bought shares from a friend, the previous franchise owner of the NHL team. While he tried to be the best father he could to Ed and did his best to be around despite the shared custody with his now ex-wife Alicia, the relationship with his son was forever tarnished by the divorce and his cheating allegations. His son, now legally Edmund Anderson to further disassociate himself from his father, had grown as so did his talent for ice hockey and soon found himself the topic of interest between the Phoenix Buzzards and the Milwaukee Owls. Warren, desperate to see his son more often, attempted to bribe Ed into joining his team with the promise of taking care of him and his mother. But the plan backfired and in its wake was a worsened father-son relationship.

BACKGROUND
Connor Herbert was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. His mother, a manager at a local diner, was the only parent fully involved in his life despite his father, a retired NHL player, being in the picture.Due to his father being emotionally closed off to him, Connor grew an interest in ice hockey initially for the purpose of trying to create common ground between the two of them in hopes that he and his father would be able to connect to some degree but he'd come to genuinely love the sport and found a talent for it leading him to join the local youth ice hockey team.Up until his sophomore year in college, his life revolved around the sport and his love for it grew exponentially with time. But during a game before the NCAA playoffs in his sophomore year, Connor tore his ACL in his right knee which permanently sidelined him from playing again and ultimately crushing his dreams of going professional despite the successful ACL surgery and consistent treatment via physical and aquatic therapy. His incapability to play ice hockey led him to develop depression and begin to pull away from everyone.Unbeknownst to Connor, Warren McCoy, the franchise owner of the Milwaukee Owls, had expressed interest of potentially recruiting Connor as an Owls player. But even after Connor was out of commission as a hockey player, Warren still wished to give him an opportunity to make his debut in the NHL. So he sought Connor out with a proposition: so long as Connor kept up with his treatment and promised to be cautious on the ice, he'd be welcomed into the Milwaukee Owls family as their mascot.Although the proposition wasn't exactly the direction he imagined his hockey career to take, Connor accepted it without hesitation and made good on his word which eventually led to him joining the Owls as their mascot after he graduated college as promised by the franchise owner. It wasn't long after joining the team that Connor met Bridget Herbert, the half sister he never knew existed. It'd been awkward at first as it would be for two strangers, but time allowed for the two half siblings to eventually open up and grow as close as any other brother and sister would get.
